I didn't participate with the mail flood. I prefer to express my
opinion with something the companies will actually listen to - $$$.
I will only consider buying games that support the GUS
_properly_. Programmers like to see and hear their creations
at their best, and that means supporting the GUS. It's an issue
of vanity. If I wrote some great compositions, I'd rather
present them on a MIDI compatible board than through an FM
synthesizer, just as I'd like my artwork to be seen at the best
resolution and colors. It'll come! Look at the support for Adlib
Gold, which actually was discontinued (or went out of business
or whatever) for awhile!

A couple of people were asking about Ram upgrades: You need 256 X 4
chips 80ns work fine. If you know of someone with a dead TVGA card
offer to take it off their hands and remove the chips from there
(That is what I and several others have done) If you need to buy the
chips call the 1-800 numbers in computer shopper and order them, Gravis
sells them but they are the same price and do not ship as quickly as
other companies.
Regarding Interplay: They tell me that for Judgement Rites
we are stuck with MegaEm or SBOS, but that future games will be
setup to use the GUS!

Has anyone else noticed a problem with the way the otherwise nice
Windows MIDI editor displays its notes? Here's an example of the
problem I'm seeing:
If I have a half-note in a measure, then stick another note after it
anywhere before the half-note's duration is up, the display changes and
makes it look like the half-note is shortened. I discovered that it
isn't really, it still gets its full count, but having a display that
makes it so you can't tell whether a note is really what it seems is a
pain.

I too wouldn't mind such a division on the digest, but I wonder
if there would be enough traffic on the music one to warrant a
split?
One thing that might help, is if the faq were automatically mailed
out to all newcomers, so we don't get as many FAQ's (how do
I get Xwing under OS2 under NT emulation on my Amiga to use the
sounds from my C64 machine on Tuesdays..:)

Subject: NHL Hockey
I have been trying to get info on how to get NHL hockey by EA to work with the GUS. I tried looking through back Digest issues, and found an issue that
probably has the info in it that I am looking for, but that issue is not
complete on EPAS.UTORONTO. It is VOL6 Issue29. It must have had trouble
when it was uploaded to epas. If someone could e-mail me that issue or better
yet, tell me how to get SBOS and the GUS to work with NHL hockey.
It works as an adlib but that's not much better than the internal speaker.
I also got it to work with MEGAEM as an MT-32, but I would really like
digitized sound. Has anyone been able to get this to work??
Any info greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Edward Lewis

Subject: Problem with Prince of Persia 2?
Prince of Persia works poorly in every setup I try! It only works with SBOS 2.09
and 3.60, but it locks up very frequently. Any concise advice? Incidentally, over
95% of the other games I 've tried work. (Some exceptions, Humans-Megaem
only, and Jill of the Jungle-slow downs) The only other one that doesn't work
is Bio-Menace (locks up) but I don't care because it is EGA and I can't figure
out how to get past the first level anyway!
